【闲话习语】

该习语最早源自《威克利夫圣经》（Wycliffe’s Bible, 1526）：

“in nd he gat himself from them, about a stone’s cast”

stone的版本最早见于ArthurHall所翻译的《荷马史诗十书》（
TheTenbooksofHomersIliades,1581）：

“For who can see a stones throw of ought thing in land or plaine?”

之后有过用dart或lance来替换stone的版本，直到1712年John Arbuthnot的作品《约翰·布尔的历史》（The History of John Bull）的问世，stone的版本才得以普遍使用。
